Little Turtle Friend
When I thought about designing a little backyard friend that celebrates LGBTQ+, I wanted that celebration to be integral to the friend. So I designed a turtle who’s very shell is a pride flag. This turtle is all about embracing who they are with every fiber of their being and is dedicated to my niece who is definitely always herself. I knitted my little turtle friend with Blue Sky Fibers Woolstok which is a light worsted weight yarn 123 yards/50 grams and the amounts of yarn and gauge listed in the patterns reflect that. You can knit your turtle in any weight yarn, and gauge isn’t very important. If you use thicker yarn you will need more yardage and less yardage for thinner yarn. The main thing is to knit a very dense fabric so that the stuffing doesn’t show through. In worsted weight yarn the turtle is about 6.5 inches tall.
Proceeds from this pattern in the month of June will go to the Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fun .
