Welcome to my Little Vehicles Collection Blanket!

This pattern includes a Chart with DCs marked and written instructions.

This blanket features 6 images from my Little Vehicle Collection with tyre tracks criss-crossing through the middle. All vehicle designs are also available individually.

As all the vehicles are the same height in the collection, you can choose any vehicle, just need to add or reduce the number of stitches between the vehicles to fit the width of the blanket.

The idea for the Little Vehicles came about when my little boy asked for a black and yellow scarf, just like his big brother’s. It’s a simple striped scarf. I tried. I honestly did try. Failed. My hook just would not do simple. I started to draw and the first five of the Little Vehicles arrived and I turned them into a scarf. He was thrilled!!!

Since then I have extended the selection with more patterns and used 6 of them for a baby blanket combined with sections from the Havana Afghan pattern by Tinna Thorudottir Thorvaldsdottir also available on Ravelry.
This is when I realised that the combination of mosaic stitches can create brilliant car track-like patterns, which would be the perfect addition to the vehicle images.
Hope you like it as much as I do.

Look out for more little vehicles to be added to the collection and more blanket patterns to come.

Technique: Overlay mosaic or Single-row mosaic
Using US terminology
There isn’t a tutorial included with this pattern, there are amazing tutorials available online, such as the “Beginners Guide to mosaic crochet” video.
The only two stitches you need to know are single crochet and double crochet stitches and of course you need to be able to make a foundation chain or a chainless foundation row.
Don’t be intimidated, you’ll be amazed how easy this technique is! I know I was!!!

Gauge/size/hook/yarn
Gauge only matters if you are trying to make this blanket a certain size or when you’re trying to determine the amount of yarn you’ll need.
You can use any type of yarn, make sure to use the most suitable hook size for your chosen yarn and tension.

The following details were calculated based on a 16 stitches x 16 rows by 10x10cm square and using
DK weight yarn and 4.5 mm hook (Paintbox Simply DK):
Size (approximately):
Height: 115cm
Width: 80cm
Yardage (approximately):
Main Colour: 1000m
Pattern Colour: 700m
Double border optional (based on 5 SC rows): 320m

Please feel free to get in touch should you have any questions.
