Little Viking Mittens, a quick and easy pattern for knitted baby mittens. The mittens are thumbless and are easy to put on an off.

Three sizes: 1-3 months (6-9 months) 12-18 months.

Skill level 1 & 2: Beginner / Easy

The pattern includes knit and purl stitches and decreasing stitches. You will find links in the pattern showing how to decrease.

The mittens are knitted in the round with DPNs or circular needles, depending on which technique you prefer. You can use DPNs or the magic loop technique. If you are new to DPNs or just don’t get along very well with them (like me), I strongly recommend trying the magic loop technique, it is very suitable for knitting the mittens. There are lots of great tutorial videos on YouTube how to get started.

You will need:

  • DPNs or circular needles in two sizes: US 2,5/3mm and US 6/4 mm
  • Yarn (merino wool, cotton, acrylic or any other DK/worsted/8 ply yarn)
  • Tapestry needle

Materials:
50 g of Drops Merino Extra Fine color Navy Blue
50 g of Drops Merino Extra Fine color Red
50 g of Drops Merino Extra Fine color Off White

The mittens are knitted in Drops Merino Extra Fine (1 skein = 50 grams/115 yards).

This project is also perfect for scrap yarn if you have any left over yarn at home!
