Intro

I love shawls. Often though, I find it easier to wear a scarf with my outfits, rather than a shawl. This one is designed in a shape that makes it something in-between – it is as long as a scarf and has a rather shallow triangle shape. You can wear it over your shoulders, letting the ends flow freely and playfully for a very feminine look – it falls down to about your middle back, accentuating feminine curves, but you can also wrap it around your neck as a scarf without too much bulk, and it offers extra warmth to your neck and chest with the gentle ruffles falling at front, creating a nice focus point.

This pattern includes charted and written instructions.

Difficulty

Intermediate. Pattern uses simple increases and decreases, knitted on edging.

Suggested Yarn

This pattern is designed for lace or fingering weight yarns. You will need approximately 630 m (690 yards) to knit this shawl.

Needles, Gauge and Size

3 mm (US 2.5) cable needle for lace part and 3.5 mm (US 4) cable needle for ruffle. You will have a lot of stitches on needles for ruffle, so I suggest having a 80cm (32 in) cable needle.

Construction

The shawl is knit sideways, starting with few stitches, increasing to the center point, then decreasing to the other end. Stitches are picked up from the edge of shawl for the ruffle.
