Livonia Tank
Working a traditional lace pattern in a wide tape yarn gives this tank a modern edge. Even though the yarn is classified as bulky weight and works up quickly on large needles, the tape construction and fiber mix give it a wonderful drape.
SKILL LEVEL
Intermediate: Skills include reading charts, lace
knitting, duplicate stitch grafting, picking up
stitches, short rows, and three-needle bindoff.
See Techniques section beginning on page
146 for photo tutorials on picking up stitches,
duplicate stitch grafting, and working short rows.
Shown in size S with +2”/5 cm ease. Intended to fit with -1”/2.5 cm to
+3”/7.5 cm ease at bust.
PATTERN NOTES
• The lace band is worked sideways, the ends
grafted, and then stitches for the bodice are
picked up from one edge and worked in the
round to the armholes
• Instructions are given for the contrast color
duplicate stitch method of grafting on page
155, but the Kitchener stitch may also be
used if preferred (instructions not included)
• Instructions for lace stitch pattern are given
in chart and written form
CUSTOMIZING FIT
There is no waist shaping, so tank length
is easily changed: add/subtract rows to
stockinette stitch section before starting to
shape armholes.
