The shawl is knitted in one piece. There are beads in the ribbed front edge and the garter stitch bottom trim. The beading is very easy. You simply bring up a bead, from your pre-loaded ball, and then knit or purl your next stitch. And with many of my shawls, it is designed to stay on your shoulders without the use of a shawl pin.
