To make a narrower headband, do fewer increases with corresponding decreases. To make a smaller/shorter headband, adjust the length in the piece between the increses/decreases and Center of Headband--make sure to do the same length on both sides of the Center of Headband. Otherwise, you will end up with a lopsided headband where the Center of Headband will be off to one side (not centered).
