Lizzie Borden
Lizzie Borden represents the infamous alleged-murderer who was found not guilty of killing her father and step-mother with a hatchet. In her modest black suit and hat, she is ready for her day in court. However, her blue blouse is a reminder of the blue dress Lizzie was seen burning just days after the gruesome murders. Bright touches of red in her ensemble also hint at her possible guilt. As a final clue, Lizzie wears a hatchet charm and a blood-red jewel at her throat.
Lizzie Borden is knit on size 6 needles with occasional touches from a size E crochet hook, and fits an 18 inch doll. The construction of each piece is largely seamless. Her blue blouse is in fact a false front allowing her jacket to fit closely. This also makes it easy for your favorite young true-crime enthusiast to dress and undress the doll.
Lizzie Borden was designed using an 18 inch Creatology “Modern Girls” doll available at Michael’s Craft Stores.
