A Lobster Pound is the place fresh lobster are stored in the water while awaiting sale. The first Lobster Pound was built in a tidal creek in Vinalhaven Maine in 1875. To this day, Lobster Pounds are used to preserve the catch that supports so much of the Gulf of Maine Fisheries.

Lobster Pound is a color work pillow that is worked in the round. The chart is worked twice across the round to form the identical front and back seamlessly. The top and bottom are stitched closed once the project is blocked. I used a mattress stitch around the columns of stitches which give the appearance of a continuous knit fabric. Once the pillow is stitched to the point that only a 6” opening is left you add ploy fill or a pillow insert being careful not to overstuff the pillow which would distort the stitches.
