I went back to some basic roots in designing with stripes for this shawl, which I named LOCAL GIRL, and I encompassed a repeating lace motif which uses double yarn overs for a beautiful and open stitch pattern. The garter section is also peppered with the slightest of short rows for some visual interest in the contrasting color. Breaking away from my personal rule of “One Skein Per Color”, I used two skeins for the lace motif, and I can’t regret my decision. This project was begging for more love in the lace section, and the result of a sizeable and stylish shawl was truly amazing.

MATERIALS:
Four skeins of Hikoo Sueno (80% Superwash Merino Wool, 20% Bamboo Viscose. 255 yards.)
• Color A: #1133 Charcoal (190 yards used.)
• Color B: #1111 Cream (160 yards used.)
• Color C: #1190 Chartreuse (410 yards used.)
US 6 40” circ. needle

GAUGE AND MEASUREMENTS:
78” in wingspan and 28” from top of shawl to deepest point.
25 sts and 28 rows every 4” in garter stitch.
Gauge not critical for this project.

PATTERN NOTES: Read the entire pattern before casting on to familiarize yourself with the pattern. This project was used with solid color yarns in mind. Multicolor yarns may also be used, but it is recommended that they be used for Color A or B. I suggest using a solid or tonal for Color C to better see the lace pattern. A chart is included on the back page of this pattern for the lace section.
