Loch Maree Fingerless Mitts
The Loch Maree Mitts are inspired by a hike around Loch Maree in the beautiful Scottish Highlands. Ideal for cooler days when a full pair of gloves or mittens might be too much, these mitts provide a surprising amount of comforting warmth.
Echoing the motif of the Cùl Mòr cardigan, and with a nod to spring, each mitt features a strip of floral motifs using a small amount of yarn in three colours. The main body of each mitt is worked sideways in the much underrated and underused extended double crochet stitch. The mitts also have a great fit due to the shaped thumb gusset.
You’ll get to practise lots of techniques in this small project: join as you go, after-thought gusset, a small bit of sewing and decorative surface slip-stitch crochet.
Loch Maree Fingerless Mitts are available in 3 sizes to fit hand circumference: 18 (20, 22) cm / 7 (8, 8.5) in
Designed to be worn with 1-2.5 cm negative ease.
