Loch Raven Sweater
This sweater builds upon the same theme as Assateague and Baton Rouge: short row shaping combined with
strategically-placed increases for a well-fitting yoke. However, this is a completely different pattern! This sweater
pattern uses German short rows, has only four increase rows instead of six or more in the yoke itself, and includes
back/front shaping for the neck.
PATTERN NOTES
Colors: The pattern really does look much better if you use two colors, but use your best judgment and your color
sense to choose what’s right for you.
Stitch markers: This pattern requires the use of a locking stitch marker because you will be moving it throughout the
yoke pattern. It’s placed at the end of your round, between stitches as usual, except that as you work the short row
wedges, you will move it from the right shoulder to the left.
SPECIAL STITCHES/TECHNIQUES:
Asa Tricosa has an amazing German short row tutorial if you would like a refresher or to learn a new technique. I use
her terminolgoy “DS” (double stitch, see glossary for more info), which refers to the double stitch created using this
method. Check out her tutorial here.
