A tactile, super soft, short-sleeved cardigan, in a rich combination of textures. Different stitches and yarns give this design its unique look. Inspired by the casual-but-chic style of the late 1970’s, this versatile cardigan with deep patch pockets and buttons can be dressed up or down. Suitable for a beginner. The ultimate stashbuster!

Yarn: A mixture of bulky weight yarns or sportweight yarns (held double) are used in this design. I have used the following Drops Design yarns: Lima (held double), Brushed Alpaca Silk (held double). I also used Jarol Shetland Mist Chunky in two shades.

Alternative yarns: The pattern is designed to be versatile and easily adapted to your own yarn choices. I have mixed mohair, wool, alpaca, boucle and lurex to build up the texture. This is a design to encourage your own creativity, and to have fun with yarn! I used a selection of vintage and modern yarns. Some were in lighter weights, but held double to get the gauge. Bernat, Caron, Cascade, Drops Design, Lion Brand, Patons, Scheepjes and Sirdar have great fibre ranges. Choose any yarn with an interesting texture, or raid your stash for fancy yarns, and combine with smoother yarns for a fun effect.
