Lockdown Jersey with a Twist
It’s Lockdown Life and you need a comfy jersey to throw on to look smart for endless zoom meetings, but also something stretchy and forgiving as your Lockdown eating habits take effect…
This is a quick rib knit using big needles and yarn, plus fun directional construction, and you’ll be wearing it in no time!
The gauge is 10cm wide is approximately 20 stitches. It’s a stretchy pattern and hard to measure in rib, so it’s quite forgiving!
For a size Small, I used 6x 40g (75m) balls of Fantasia Ski yarn. Random balls from my stash - it’s a bit fatter than 8ply. Use any chunkier yarn you like! You’ll be knitting with 5.5mm needles if that’s a guide for you. Plus 4mm needles for the rib at the waist and neck.
You knit the back piece, and then knit up the side for some intriguing knitting engineering, knitting sideways and using angles to create straight seams, and ribs to create curves!
This is an easy-intermediate project. It’s a series of rib patterns, so you only need to know how to Knit and Purl - then the construction with the twist makes it look like you’ve done something super fancy!
Sizing included for waist size 65cm - 95cm (approx size XS-XXL according knitting sizing guides) but you can make it smaller or larger.
