Log Cabin
Here’s a relaxing pattern which I’ve enjoyed making many times; these socks have a pretty cuff which leads naturally into the diagonal rib pattern.
The diagonal rib adds a gentle twist to the fabric which means that there’s no need for any heel shaping and the five row blocks make it easy to count the number of rows to ensure that both socks are a perfect match.
The instructions have been written to make the pattern repeat very easy to work - by moving the stitches over by one on every repeat you simply keep on going until you want to shape the toe.
Perfect holiday/TV knitting which produces a pair of really cosy socks which will be snapped up as soon as they are off the needles!
Edit: For a more masculine pair of socks simply omit the eyelet cuff instructions and head straight on to the diagonal rib.
