This is a fun, modular sweater pattern that I knit during the Fringe and Friends Logalong. I’ve compiled the pattern instructions here for those who are interested. The pattern works equally well as a vest and cardigan, so feel free to omit the sleeves! The pattern is presented both as a diagram and table and as full written instructions.

This boxy, oversized cardigan has a drop-shoulder construction with no shoulder shaping. The body is knit in pieces and seamed. The shoulders are seamed using a three-needle bind off, and the sides are seamed using mattress stitch. The sleeves are then picked up and knit flat in reverse stockinette and seamed to avoid having to purl every stitch in the round! Finally, the neckband is picked up to work a small garter collar with an I-cord bind-off.

Finished measurements: Bust: 50”; Body length from back neck: 25”; Upper arm circumference: 13”; Wrist circumference: 10”; Sleeve length: 14”.
Pattern is shown on a 35” bust with 15” of positive ease.

Yarn: This pattern requires approximately 700 grams of Worsted or Aran weight yarn.
MC: Approximately 400g of lighter brown yarn used for the main parts of the body.
CC1: One skein of Brooklyn Tweed Shelter, shown in Birdbook, approximately 50g.
CC2: Approximately 200g of darker brown yarn used for sides of the body and sleeves.
CC3: Approximately 50g used for the shoulder and neckband accents, shown in Berroco Ultra Alpaca in Winter White.

Needles: US 8, straight or circular, up to 42” in length, or size needed to obtain gauge.

Gauge: 16 stitches and 32 rows = 4” in garter stitch, after blocking. My gauge varied a little over the different yarns I used, but this is the average gauge I achieved.

Required Skills: Picking up stitches, Modular knitting, I-cord bind off, three-needle bind off, mattress stitch with garter stitch and reverse stockinette stitch.
