I designed the Log Cabin Jumper for a holiday in Finland in the snow. It is knitted in pure wool double knitting yarn for softness and warmth but you could use any yarn of the same gauge. It is knitted in parts to the yoke where it is continued in rounds. Instructions include charts and are given for approximate ages 1 to 9 years. The colour work design is deceptively easy consisting of a repeat of just 4 stitches and the decreases are all on single colour rows. You will need less than 50g of each of 3 contrasting colours for the blue version and of four for the green.
