This pattern is suitable for beginner to intermediate hookers. It does include some techniques that are more advanced, eg the foundation single crochet stitch, but there are alternative stitches suggested for beginners.

The stitches used are:
SC = single crochet (UK double crochet)
DC = double crochet (UK treble)
Ch = chain
Sl st = slip stitch
Double V-stitch = 2 DC, ch 2, 2 DC in the same stitch
FSC = Foundation Single Crochet

This pattern can be made with any 8 ply cotton or cotton blend. It has been tested in a variety of yarns.
