Lola's Circle Duster
This garment is a statement piece. It is meant to turn heads and draw comment – and it has every time I have worn it. The inspiration came from three things: my love for the yarn used – Garnmanufaktur Lola and this amazing Ornamental Fish colourway, antique lace and doily designs, and the fact that I couldn’t find a circle vest that was flattering to my fuller figure. Many of the patterns out there are based on bolero or cutaway designs. I wanted one that wrapped right around and made a bold, sweeping statement, so I set out to design it myself! This is a one size fits most design, but I have included notes at the end of the pattern to adjust the sizing somewhat by moving the placement of the armholes which affects the width across the shoulders and the length of the finished garment.
This is an advanced pattern with the Yarn Council designation of ‘Complex’. There is a video tutorial that supports this pattern. It offers a visual guide to stitch placement and help with the tricky bits.
Garnmanufaktur (Germany) will have a kit in their online store with the yarn and pattern included. If you are in Australia, you can purchase a kit through BelleMaeYarns.com.au. I do not receive compensation from either of them if you purchase through them. Garnmanufaktur did kindly send me replacement yarn for the yarn I purchased to design this in exchange for being allowed to translate the pattern into German and to sell it through their own store.
I hope you love making the Lola’s Circle Duster pattern as much as I enjoyed creating it! Share your photos on socials – tag #ddc #lola #ddccircleduster
