Lolly the Ladybug loves pink! She was designed for the #alittleluckCAL on Instagram because we could all use a little bit of luck and ladybugs are known to bring it!
Lolly is an intermediate amigurumi (crochet) pattern written in English using US (American) terminology. The pattern includes detailed instructions in an easy to follow layout but a knowledge of basic crochet stitches and techniques used to make amigurumi is essential.
Your tension, yarn thickness and hook size used will affect the size of your finished item. My Lolly is approx. 15cm tall (6 inches).
You will need:
- 2.5mm hook/C-2 (US)
- 8ply yarns/DK or Light Worsted, 50g BLUSH, 25g in SOFT PINK, HOT PINK and RASPBERRY
- A pair of 8mm safety eyes
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
- Polyester toy stuffing
- Stitch marker (optional)
Notes:
- Amigurumi is usually stitched in the round and a yarn with no stretch is best.
- When changing colour, pull through the new colour on the stitch before you need it. This will ensure that you have the correct colour yarn on the hook for the upcoming stitch.
- Generally, the hook you use for amigurumi will be a smaller than for other crochet as you want the stitches tight.
- Your tension, yarn thickness and hook size used will affect the size of your finished item.
- I’ve used the following yarns: o SOFT PINK = Ricorumi DK by Rico Design in col. 008 Rose o BLUSH = Ricorumi DK by Rico Design in col. 067 Lotus o HOT PINK = Ricorumi DK by Rico Design in col. 012 Candy Pink o RASPBERRY = Ricorumi DK by Rico Design in col. 013 Raspberry
- I have used plastic safety eyes but you may choose to embroider the eyes. Please ensure that there are no loose fittings
