Long Leaf Lattice
This no-name, no-image pattern from ca. 1875 The Lady’s Book of Knitting and Crochet, p.105, has a 10-stitch, 28-row repeat. The wrong-side rows are just knit and purl. This stitch pattern was intended for a “Shetland shawl” but you can use it for anything you like! Long Leaf Lace edging was meant to finish the 1875 shawl. It’ll take about 1 hour to knit 3 inches of a 42-stitch-wide swatch.
Skills needed: long-tail cast on, slip, knit, purl, YO, k2tog, SSK, SK2P and bind off in knit stitch.
Gauge is not important in this pattern. Any block-able yarn/thread will work. Make a swatch to check gauge and appearance.
66 yards of #10 crochet thread will make 10 inches of a 42-stitch-wide strip in the stated gauge.
