This unusual lace knitting stitch makes the perfect long and skinny knitted scarf. Although it is similar to the other long and skinny scarf, in this same section, the stitch is very, very different. This is a little known lace stitch, while the other scarf is made using a true mesh stitch. This lace stitch, which shows off variegation to it’s best, is made with fingering weight yarn on size #6 needles. It is 4 1/2 inches by 74 inches.

Skill Level: Beginner + - Intermediate (assuming a basic knowledge of knitting, purling and yo’s)

The scarf is perfect for air-conditioning or if there’s a nip in the air. If you have some sock yarn that you haven’t decided what to do with, you could easily use it for this scarf.

The scarf in the sample was made with Arctic Quiviat’s Sock Yarn, and one skein is more than sufficient, for both the scarf and the optional edging. The pattern does include instructions for an optional crocheted edging.
