Gauge
20 stitches in 4 inches of lightly blocked garter stitch
Gauge is not critical but will affect your finished size and yardage required

Measurements
Approximately 65” across and 30” deep after blocking
Yarn information
For best results there should be some contrast between the two colors. Solids or semi-solids will work best. Variegated yarns are not recommended. If you plan to knit with a superwash or non-wool yarn, you may want to tighten your gauge up a bit to counteract the tendency to grow. You can use a different weight at a gauge that gives you a nice fabric but be aware that you will end up with a different finished size and yardage requirements if your gauge is different from that given.
 
Materials
Approximately 1175 yards of DK-weight yarn. 675 yards of one color (main color) and 500 of another (contrasting color). Sample was knit in Miss Babs’ Killington (85% Polworth wool, 15% silk)
US6/4mm needles or size needed to obtain gauge. You will be knitting flat but may find circulars easier because of the number of stitches
Needles one size smaller than gauge needles – straights or circulars
Stitch markers
Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
