Longacre Cowl
Before it was Times Square, the center of Manhattan was known as Longacre Square. I’m fascinated by NYC history and I love the idea of using a Times Square gradient to work up a pattern called the Longacre Cowl - it’s history with a modern approach, using stitches that are centuries old to work up a yarn created in and named for current day NYC.
The Longacre Cowl is all about the use of color, with a simple two-row repeat that becomes eye-catching when worked in a basic striped pattern. The pattern includes specific written instructions for working the cowl as pictured as well as notes for making the cowl wider or narrower. The cowl can easily be made as tall as you’d like and can be worked until you run out of yarn to be sure you use up as much of the yarn as possible.
The Longacre Cowl is ideal for an adventurous beginner. It requires working in the round, changing colors, and post stitches, but has no complex shaping or advanced techniques. It’s designed specifically for a taat gradient and perfectly showcases the color transitions.
