Here are links to the video demonstrations of the slipped stitch cables used in this pattern (the drop right and the drop left).
Slipped stitches dart back and forth across this gloriously snuggly shawl. Sections of ribbing and garter stitch stripes frame broad bands of woven color. Perfect for showing off a variegated yarn!
This shawl is worked from the top down, beginning with a garter stitch tab. It grows six stitches every two rows until it reaches the bottom edge.
Gauge is not critical for this pattern, but using a different yarn weight or needle size will affect the size of the finished shawl and the amount of yarn needed.
Instructions are both written out and charted.
Yarn Notes
Only one color of yarn is worked at a time.
There are great possibilities for color experimentation with this shawl. The diagonal weave stitch works very well with variegated yarns, but would also look beautiful in a solid color. Instead of using two contrasting colors, consider using a single contrasting or gradient yarn with the main color. Alternatively, each diagonal weave section or garter stripe could be worked in a different color for a multicolored, stashbusting approach.
This shawl could also be made with a fingering or DK weight yarn.
