Longmonster
Happy Seventh Anniversary, Longmont Yarn Shoppe!
A Longmonster is a person from Longmont. A Longmonster can be warm. They can be snuggly and inviting. Longmonsters tend to be social and look out for one another. They’re creative, innovative, loving and lovable. Longmonsters are part of a kind and close-knit community. The best thing about Longmonsters is they can be whatever they want because they’re all meant to be different.
The Longmonster is a long, shallow, asymmetrical triangle scarf/shawl. Knit in garter stitch, the design makes for a great mindless knitting or a pallet cleanser project.
The long design allows for a one-skein shawlette. Or you could keep going and end up with a nice, long scarf to wrap around your neck several times.
I really wanted to make this an accessible knit. Designed simply enough to work with most weights of yarn anyone can pick it up and go. The pattern is deceivingly simple and very easy to learn with a two-row repeat after a few setup rows to begin.
These samples are a good place to kick off an idea for how much yarn you may need and easy ideas for modifications such as stripes, fades, an i-cord bind off.
See the samples in the photos for descriptions of yarn weight and yardage used. Visit the projects for details on how each was modified.
