Longstocking blanket
Pippi Longstocking isn’t just the world’s strongest girl, she’s also an amazing role model and fun friend. Generations of kids have grown up with the stories and films about Pippi.
In the 1970’s film Pippi wears a knitted sweater from Gotland, where the filming happened. The pattern became iconic and the sweater often referred to as Pippi-sweater and spread to all types of garments.
As a tribute to one of my childhood favourite stories I have created the Longstocking blanket, a crocheted version of the iconic Pippi pattern. Using different basic stitches to shape the stripes it is easy enough for beginners and the stripes makes it a fun pattern to make without getting boring.
The pattern is available in UK and US terminologies as well as in Swedish. The pattern is written for one size with the numbers given for 4 different sizes in 3 different yarn weights for endless adaptation.
Hook: 5.0mm (H)
Tension: 15sts/10cm
Yarn: Aran weight yarn, approx 1670-1840m of main colour, 264-290m each of 2 contrast colours. The classic colours are white background with alternating red and blue stripes.
The sample blanket was made in Paintbox Yarns Wool Mix Aran in
