The Longsuffering Socks are my 4th pattern in my 12-pattern Fruit of the Spirit Collection. This is a great pattern for a long, self-striping skein of sock yarn.

This sock pattern is cuff-down and incorporates knit stitch, purl stitch, yarn over increase, knit two together decrease, slip slip knit two together decrease, an after-thought heel, and kitchner stitch.

Yarn requirements are 400 yards/366 meters of a long, self-striping fingering weight yarn. Optional 10 grams of a coordinating fingering weight yarn for the after-thought heel. Other supplies needed include stitch markers (optional), tapestry needle for weaving in ends, and scrap yarn for the after-though heel.

Gauge is 32 stitches to 4in/10cm stockinette stitch on a US2/2.75mm.

This pattern comes in two sizes: Small 8in/20cm ankle circumference and Large 10in/25cm ankle circumference. Length of the leg and foot are at the discretion of the knitter. Excessive length may require additional yarn.

I prefer to knit my socks two-at-a-time using the magic loop method. However, I tried to write the pattern so that the knitter’s preferred sock knitting method will work.

“But the Fruit of the Spirit is…longsuffering…against such there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23
