Classically stranded mittens pattern with a Latvian braid and a simple ribbing. The pattern is regular and easy to remember. In some places long floats are inevitable, and it is recommended that you weave in your yarn every 3rd stitch as you go.

I went to Icelanders’ Day in Gimli in August 2022. We stayed in a summer house with a lovely lady, we had never met before but felt like friends for many years right away. When I first entered her house, I immediately noticed a printer shelf that was there and it was full of small stones, each with its own appearance. She said that as a child they would look for small stones with holes in them on the shore of Lake Winnipeg and they were supposed to bring good luck. She has quite a nice collection of lucky stones and she was also very lucky .
I am going to offer 2 types of colors for this pair, one will be light brown (I saw a brown stone) the other will be gray (she saw gray stones) Over time, the more popular kit will win. I decided to say thank you for the wonderful days we had with her by making mittens with lots of lucky stones. This is also the first pattern that has my own dyed yarn, I’m going to call the colors Lucky stones brown and Lucky stones grey. When I envisioned the color to be in these mittens, I wanted it to be like the shade of the light color, I wanted the pattern to fit in a bit with the whole, like Lucky stones do, they are not always easy to find.
