Look at Little Twister is the “light” version of Do You Know the Mitten Man. These little mitts feature twisted rib and can be knit up using your favorite sock yarn. They make a nice lightweight mitt for cold hands when typing or knitting, or as lingerie for your hands under a heavier outer mitten. Pattern is written for 4 sizes with an adjustable cuff length.
Sizes: To fit hand circumference 7 (7.5, 8, 8.5) inches 17.75 (19, 20.25, 22) cm Measure just above the thumb and below the first set of knuckles.
Finished circumference: 6.5 (7, 7.5, 8) inches 16.5 (17.75, 19, 20.25) cm unstretched, after washing. For best results choose a finished circumference about ½ inch (1.25 cm) less than actual hand circumference.
Gauge: 32 stitches and 54 rows = 4 inches 10 cm in stockinette after washing, unstretched. These mitts are stretchy in superwash wool or wool blend yarn!
Suggested Yarn: Online Linie 12 Street Color (75% virgin wool/25% polyamide) one 50 g ball, or superwash sock yarn of your choice
Suggested needles: Set of 5 US size 1.5 (2.5 mm) dpn or size needed to obtain gauge. I like the 6-inch (15 cm) length needles.
Additional supplies:
Stitch markers: Locking removable stitch markers are convenient when working with dpn.
Large-eye yarn needle for finishing.
Scrap of smooth waste yarn to hold live thumb stitches while knitting hand.
I hope you enjoy knitting these mitts. I would love to see your finished projects on Ravelry!
Happy knitting!
