This summer, while camping, I reread Winnie the Pooh out loud to my husband as we sat around the campfire. As I read the story Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree, childhood memories came flooding back to me; my childhood love of wearing Wellington boots, camping in the rain, and, of course, watching the 1977 classic The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.

These socks are knit cuff down, increasing sts and changing needle size for the colourwork to accommodate the less stretchy fabric of stranded knitting and to keep the gauge consistent. If your gauge is the same for both stranded and colourwork then switching needles will not be necessary. I still recommend increasing the stitches.
I choose my needle sizes depending on the fabric a particular yarn will give me. This yarn felt nicest on the larger needles, as it was a little thicker than other sock yarn. This gave me a slightly heavier sock, perfect for wearing rubber boots.

These are a great stash or scrap buster for the colourwork.

GAUGE:
Using US1½ (2.5mm), after blocking, over single colour stocking stitch, knit in the round: 32 sts x 44 rows = 4” (10cm)
Using US2 (2.75 mm) after blocking, over stranded pattern knit in the round: 32 sts x 40 rows = 4” (10cm)
