The “Loom Knit Fringed Bandana” is a warm cowl with a wide tip at the front. It is worked sideways flat using a broken rib stitch to add texture, and a knitted-in fringe worked at the same time you work the pattern, to make it different. The first and last rows are grafted using the Brenda Myers’ Kitchener bind off technique, adapted to 1x1 rib.

Measurements:
24” circumference, 13” wide at front tip, blocked.

Gauge: 15 stitches/26rows = 4” in broken rib pattern

Skill Level: Intermediate to adventurous beginner.
With this pattern you will learn how to work a provisional cast on, add a knitted-in fringe at the same time you work the pattern, make internal increases and decreases, and the Kitchener bind off adapted to 1x1 rib grafting.
There is a photo-tutorial at the end of the pattern instructions showing how to work the techniques used here, and links to my complementary videos.

Materials:
Loom: A small gauge loom with at least 52 pegs. The 3/8” gauge, 18” All-in-One Knittingboard was used for the sampler.
Yarn: About 194 yds of worsted weight #4 yarn.
Red Heart Super Saver yarn in color Cherry Red was used in the sampler (100% Acrylic, one 7 oz skein = 198 g/364 yds).
Notions: waste yarn (preferably cotton, #4 weight), two stationary, and two movable stitch markers, masking tape to mark the pegs (these are optional, but they make life easier), loom hook, crochet hook, yarn needle, and scissors.
