All you need to know is how to cast on, do the basic ewrap stitch, purl stitch, and how to add more stitches while knitting. You will be knitting in the round for the hat and flat for the visor & band.

Gauge isn’t important as the loom size will make it the correct circumference and you can adjust the length as needed.
