Crochet pattern for a Loon Tapestry / Blanket. This pattern comes with both a graph and written directions.

All single stitch crochet using the tapestry crochet technique (carrying yarn)

You will need 3 skeins of Blue (A), 2 skeins of Black (B), 1 skein of white (C) & 1 skein of Red (D) to complete this project. This is assuming a medium weight yarn with a skein length of about 350 yards/skein.

I recommend carrying the Blue (A), Black (B) & White (C) through the entire pattern to keep it even and only carry the red in the one eye spot where it is used. Alternatively, you could carry the white only through the birds body.

I recommend a medium weight (worsted weight) yarn with a J sized hook. The tapestry should come out a little over 4 feet wide (when crocheted with a J hook and medium weight yarn) This pattern can be repeated and sewn together or combined with other patterns (most of my other patterns are also 150 stitches wide) to create a blanket. A border can also increase the size and give the project a more finished look.

It is all single stitch crochet. In order to make this blanket you will need to know how to carry yarn (there are great Youtube videos that can teach you how to do the Tapestry Crochet Technique. I highly recommend trying a small simple pattern to practice carrying yarn before attempting a larger project. Carrying yarn gets more difficult as you add more colors.
