A chunky hat that looks simple but has a clever twist in the construction – the “loophole” top. Wear it stocking stitch side out, or with the reverse stocking stitch side showing; brim up beanie-style or brim down for slouch, you decide.

Skills used in the hat include a provisional cast on, picking up stitches, knitting in the round and grafting (Kitchener stitch).

The sample was knitted in Wendy Merino Chunky but any chunky-weight wool would work.
