NOTE#1: Cast on 88 stitches as the .pdf says for a snug fit before blocking, or 96 stitches if you like looser hats. The chart given works for either stitch count.
This is a chart-only pattern with very minimal written instructions, i.e., cast-on and gauge info.
Note #2: The first stitch in row 14 of the .pdf downloaded before 12.9.08 should be yellow (contrast color.) Oops.
Note #3: There are 3 more rows (1/2”) in the chart (between the loops and the crown motif) than are shown in this pictured hat, because it was just that much too short for my taste.
