Loosely Lace Scarf
I am a sucker for mohair. I love the sheen of the fiber and how it glows when dyed in saturated colors.
I love knitting lace edgings; every row is interesting, and a lace border is a great way to decorate an otherwise boring bind-off.
This scarf is what happened when those two passions intersected.
This pattern is a lot of fun because of the variety in both the approach to the scarf’s shape and in the different lace patterns. It’s an easy introduction to lace, picking up stitches, and joining a knitted-on edge. I encourage you to try it!
Gauge will not affect fit but it can affect whether you have enough yarn to finish the project. It will certainly affect how many stitches you want to pick up in the middle section, and how often you switch between k2tog and k3tog when working your final edge.
