Lopi Love Lopagleði
You can wear an Icelandic traditional sweater, the “lopapeysa” – but as a wrap or shawl. This one fits all sizes. You can use it on a cool evening on your porch or deck, as a wrap or blanket, in front of the TV over your feet and legs, or wear it with a pin in poncho style. It makes for a great gift!
Uppskriftin líka á íslensku hér!
The simple zigzag pattern echoes the early lopapeysa designs. A classic chevron pattern and not the typical Icelandic stranded knitting is used, avoiding the floats on the wrong side.

The plötulopi ( =pencil roving) is held double for this pattern. This is the traditional material for an Icelandic lopapeysa.
Choose your colours from the range of undyed sheep colours, use the grey feldfé plötulopi or go for a colour feast from Hörpugulll or Sléttuskjótt (handdyed plötulopi): www.thingborg.is
You need about 400 g main colour of plötulopi and 3 x 30 g for the colour stripes. Size: 170 cm / 67 inches x 72 cm / 28 inches.
