I reknit this fun pattern in 2023, using Spincycle PLUMP, loving it so much that I updated the pattern to make this version the NEW design sample. Working with this fun yarn, I discovered that it produced a rather lovely ‘wrong side’ of the hat, so I am classing it as reversible.

The design showcases a lopsided stitch pattern, adapted from another design of mine. The rib creates a stretchy brim & because the stitch pattern in the body of the hat widens naturally, that is also stretchy.

LOPSICLE is simple, quick & fun to knit, & very intuitive once you get going. The stitch pattern continues to the top of the crown. Definitely suitable for a beginner knitter wishing to branch out a bit, & pretty much ‘instant gratificaton’ for more experienced knitters.

SIZING
The (PLUMP) design sample comfortably fits my 55cm/22’’ head, & was slightly firmer fitting (but not too tight) on the larger head I tried it on. Of course, fit is a personal thing, as we all know, so I’ve included extra stitch counts for smaller & larger options that will also work with the crown shaping.

Use your imagination & think ‘multi stranding’ if you don’t want/can’t use the yarn/s mentioned here - which is what I plan to do next, 3-4 strands of some fun fingering weight would be fun, methinks!
