Most components of this pattern are meant to be worked in the round. The first round of all of the spherical body parts begin a Magic Ring.

Some of the rounds will be crocheted in front loops only, in back loops only, or in both loops. If it is not explicitly stated in the pattern, please crochet in both loops.
