This sweater, with the iconic female power symbol, is my response to a Netflix documentary on the Feminists of the 70’s. Despite the turbulence of those years, we thought it a great time to be female. But clearly, there was much left unresolved. I can only hope that, for the girls of this century, it will truly and finally be a magnificent time to be female. This garment is my gift to them and—to that end—a portion of every sale will be donated to a charity that supports girls around the world.

Because I want this garment to be widely accessible, it is worked in a loose and simple style—kind of a cuffed vest. (But feel free to knit full-length sleeves: instructions are included.) In addition, this pattern is offered in 5 child’s sizes, 7 adult sizes, and in multiple gauges—13, 16, 18, or 20 stitches over 4”/10cm. (See notes below for yarn requirements, depending upon size and gauge. The only gauge, needles, yardage listed above are for the model garment at a 13-stitch gauge.)

For those who don’t love to knit intarsia, the motif may be worked in duplicate stitch.

I would say that there is no colour combination that would be wrong for this piece. Find your own loud and proud colours (and I show some combos within the pattern: white on red, orange on purple, pink on green, tan on tourquoise, etc), and wear them with confidence!
