I love crochet blankets that are modeled after quilts. In keeping with that style, I created the Louisa Stripes Baby Blanket as a tribute to the Log Cabin pattern. While this blanket looks like it’s made of different pieces and sewn together, the detailed instructions and helpful photographs show you how to stitch this blanket without any seams!
The pattern in this blanket is the same as that used in the Louis Stripes Baby Blanket I published last year. You’ll work the 6-row repeat along the side of your work, turning counterclockwise with each new color to create an ever-expanding blanket. While I made a 34” x 34” square, you can keep following the pattern to your heart’s content, creating an afghan of any size you wish! Worked entirely in sc, dc, and chs, this baby afghan is quite easy once you get the hang of it!
The Louisa Stripes Baby Blanket is the February installment of the 2018 Sunshine Charlotte Crochet ALong, which features a different baby blanket pattern each month. This year’s CAL projects are meant to be donated to crochet charities. I’m featuring a different charity each month on my blog, but you can also donate to the charity of your choice. I design and donate these baby blankets in memory of my daughter Charlotte, who died of brain cancer in July 2015.
