This is a super chic cresent shape lace shawl, perfect for all occasions. Its crescent shape allows for draping over shoulders showing off its gorgeous lace border or just thrown around the neck as a casual scarf. I designed and knitted it as a birthday gift for my sister, she just loves the colour red and lovely things.

The shawl body is knitted using a simple stocking stitch with increases worked at each end of every row to achieve the beautiful crescent shape. The main body would work equally well in garter stitch and show the curvature of the work. The top edge is worked as you go in garter stitch. The gorgeous lace edge is derived from a traditional Shetland lace pattern and is worked along the main body of the shawl picking up live stitches as the border is worked.

The pattern is given for cobweb / lace weight yarn, requires approx 500 to 750 m of yarn. The pattern is incredibly versatile. Fibre Workshop patterns are designed for handspun yarns. The version shown is a Fibre Workshop 100% Alpaca handspun lace weight single. But any commercial or handspun yarn could be used. A heavier yarn, such as 4-ply (fingering weight) on an appropriate needle size could also be used for a warmer shawl perfect for those chilly autumn and winter days. The size can also be adjusted to suit by adjusting the number of main body stitches to meet the chart repeats. The charts could also be used in a triangular shawl construction.
