Löva is a Swedish word, a verb we only use for the activity to dress something with leaves. More or less only before Midsummer, when boats, houses and maypoles should be dressed in leaves.

The sweater is knitted top down, mainly seamlessly. The neckline, though, is knitted in double stockinette in flat, and is sewn together when finished. Double stockinette creates a firm and stable rib, and is easier to knit in flat. Also you avoid joining the work from the beginning, which I think can be a little bit tricky. The round yoke colorwork is centralized around a number of rays. The design is basically a two color pattern, but you can easily add more colors and adapt the design.

This design was developed in two strands of NUTIDEN, unspun yarn. You can also use other type of unspun yarn such as Plötulopi. Please check the gauge and read all information before you start to knit. Also, note that there are two different gauges: one for the neckline and one for the main work. You may also use other types of yarns, as long as you meet the gauge and get the right feeling of the finished fabric. It should not feel bulky.

The design is developed for sizes XXS, XS, S, M, M/L, L, XL, and 2XL. Chest circumference is approximately 80, 85, 90, 95, 100, 106, 115, and 123 cm. The pattern contains descriptions on how to lengthen your colorwork section for larger size. It is also possible to adapt the pattern for your body while dividing the yoke for sleeves, front and back sections. You will need approximately 250-300 (XXS, XS), 300-350 (S, M), 400 (M/L and L), 500 (XL), and 600 (2XL) grams, including the background color of the yoke. Note that this depends highly on how you knit, and how long you make body and sleeves.

The pattern includes a written description, but there is also charts for the colorwork.

Löva är ett speciellt ord eftersom det i stort sett endast används inför midsommar, då vi klär allt från båtar till midsommarstänger i björklöv och annat grönt. För mig handlar det om att förbereda sig inför ljus och sommar.

Tröjan stickas uppifrån och ner, huvudsakligen i ett stycke. Däremot startas stickningen genom att sticka halslinningen fram och tillbaka. Den teknik som används för halslinningen är enklare att sticka fram och tillbaka. Arbetet förs ihop när du börjar med flerfärgsstickningen. Mönstret på oket utgår från ett antal strålar från halslinningen, och är i grund och botten ett tvåfärgsmönster. Men det är enkelt att göra det med flera färger.

Mönstret är utvecklat i två trådar NUTIDEN, ospunnet garn. Men det funkar även att sticka i andra ospunna garner eller spunnet garn sålänge du får till rätt stickfasthet. Notera att det är två olika stickfastheter för halslinningen och resten av arbetet. Det är viktigt att du testar det innan!

Designen finns för storlekarna XXS, XS, S, M, M/L, L, XL, och 2XL. Bystvidd för storlekarna är ca 80, 85, 90, 95, 100, 106, 115, och 123 cm. Mönstret föreslår sätt att förlänga okmönstret för större storlekar. Garnåtgäng är ungefär 250-300 (XXS, XS), 300-350 (S, M), 400 (M/L and L), 500 (XL), och 600 (2XL) gram, inklusive bakgrundsfärgen i oket. Men tänk på att det är högst individuellt när du stickar i ospunnet garn hur mycket garn som går åt, och dessutom beror det på hur lång bål och hur långa ärmar du vill sticka.

Mönstret innehåller både skriftliga beskrivningar och diagram för flerfärgsstickningen i oket.
