Love Hard Bicycle Cowl
If you’ve ever wanted to try double knitting, this cowl is a great place to start. Since it’s worked in the round, you don’t have any edge stitches to lock together--and you don’t have to read the chart backwards in the opposite color since you’re always working on the same side!
Cowl starts with a two-color invisible cast-on. Body is done in charted two-color double knitting. Top is closed with a Kitchener bind-off, either on one needle or two.
Pattern includes links to instructional videos for each step.
I created this design in memory of my sister Molly, who died in a bike accident. Her husband started the Chicago Theater Bike Ride in her honor, and each year it commemorates those who’ve been lost to the community. The mission of the Ride is to provide support to members of the arts community who are struggling after the death of a loved one, or a major catastrophe that has impacted them financially.
The event has grown to include a fundraising auction and I donated the original cowl to that effort. I’m now making the pattern available to anyone who would like to knit it, with all proceeds going to the Ride.
