His and Hers Shawls

She loves the feeling of comfort and warmth this wool shawl provides when the chilling winds howl during fall and winter. He loves the shawl for similar reasons, but especially because it reminds him of her.
This 2-in-1 pattern features eyelets, texture, and short-row construction. There are slight differences between the two patterns, but both versions include the eye catching short-row angles that give this shawl its unique shape. With these angles and your choice of the two yarn colors, you decide how feminine or masculine the end result will be.

Size: 70” Wide, 23” Deep, 42” Angle

Materials:

Yarn: 2 hanks Madeline Tosh Light, 100% merino wool. The sample of her version was knit using 300 yds. or 1 hank Saffron (MC) and 400 yds. or 1 hank Golden Hickory (CC). For his version I used Badlands (MC) and Teddy Bear (CC) fingering weight.

Gauge: 21sts and 36 rows = 4” in Stockinette stitch.

Needles: Circular # 6 US/4.0mm – 32” or 40” length.

Misc: 4 stitch markers, 48” waste yarn for lifeline, tapestry needle, blocking wire (optional), plenty of rust proof pins for blocking.
