CONSTRUCTION NOTES
This triangular shawl is knit from the bottom up, with the top edge being its longest side. The shape is developed through double yarn overs placed 2 stitches in from each selvedge on every other row. Every RS row begins k2, yo, yo and ends yo, yo, k2, whereas every WS row begins and ends with k3. Thus, every double yarn over is worked on the next row as either a knit followed by a purl or a purl followed by a knit. The stitch count is increased by 4 stitches every RS row.
A center panel comprising a 4-row repeat is established with stitch markers on Row 9 and is continued to the last 4 rows of the pattern. The main section of the shawl begins on Row 21 and features symmetrical reflections on either side of the center panel. An 18-row nupp section starts on Row 105 and consists of pattern repeats that line up directly above the repeats from the main section, as shown in the schematic. All stitches are to be slipped purlwise throughout. Slip all markers as you come to them.
Chart 1 includes all RS and WS rows for Rows 1 to 8.
Charts 2, 3 and 4 include RS rows only for Rows 9 to 121.
All WS rows are worked the same for Rows 10 to 122.
Chart 5 includes all RS and WS rows for Rows 123 to 126.
Written instructions are included for all charts.
