Lovebird
NOTE: This listing is for a digital PDF PATTERN ONLY. This is NOT a finished product. This is a CROCHET PATTERN written in ENGLISH ONLY and uses standard US terms. Refunds are not available on this item.
The finished lovebird, when worked in 4ply yarn, will measure approximately 4” high and 4” beak to tail. This will of course vary with weights of yarn and hook/tension. For a larger lovebird work in double knit, aran or chunky.
This pattern is relatively easy to follow but does require basic crochet knowledge of single and double crochet and the ability to work a magic ring. Everything is easily learnt from Youtube if you are not 100% sure. It is written in US terms but easily converted to UK terms.
I used Scheepjes Catona yarn. 8g of Royal Orange (189), Tangerine (281) and Sweet Orange (411). 15g of Kiwi (205) and Lime Juice (392), 2g of Hot Red (115) and 1g of Snow White (106). You can obviously use any colours or brand you fancy but the results will be different. You can make this in any weight yarn, using the smallest hook you can manage, but again the size of the end result will differ. Mercerised cotton yarn prevents too much stretch so the stuffing doesn’t show, plus it isn’t fluffy so the pattern of the African Flower shape shows more clearly.
I used a 2mm crochet hook, a long darning needle, toy stuffing
10mm safety eyes, stitch markers and dressmakers pins.
Abbreviations Instructions are written in English but use US terms
sc = single crochet dc = double crochet hdc = half double crochet
tc = treble crochet (yarn round 2x) dt = double treble crochet (yarn round 3x)
inc = increase dec = decrease mc = magic circle/magic ring sl st = slip stitch
It is worked in African Flower shapes with instructions in written form with lots of photographs and handy hints to follow for assembly.
This pattern is written in English.
