I began making these Lovebomb coasters in 2017 and finally have a pattern ready to publish after being sidetracked by many other projects.

The centre of the pattern is the heart to spread the love. The pattern in both US and UK terms includes:
1️⃣Simple scallops,
2️⃣Scallops with extra skinny borders,
3️⃣ Scallops with wider border,
3️⃣Simple circle with multiple rows,
4️⃣ Simple circle with multiple rows and optional Loopy edging,
5️⃣ Peppermint Twist edging with wide border or
6️⃣ Peppermint Twist with thin borders.

Plus you can play with the variations and even add your own borders too if you wish.

There are more than a dozen great photos to show each style and give you colour inspiration and each is explained fully step by step, plus tips and advice.

I suggest DK 8ply (needing a 4mm hook) as the minimum size yarn to make a coaster of a decent size. Aran 10ply would also work well. This is a great pattern for using up leftover yarn and scraps. I mostly used 3 colours on each coaster for maximum impact.

Coasters are always useful and make great gifts. I simply make them to suit the occasion (eg. Valentine’s Day, Easter, Mother’s Day, Christmas) or people’s favourite colours or decor.
