At its heart, The Sound of Music is a love story. The Captain falls in love with Maria and she with him, but perhaps the more subtle and omnipresent love story is between Maria and the children.

Lovely brings to life the gossamer sensation of love in all its forms. The shawl is inspired by the light blue dress Maria wears when the Captain sings “Edelweiss” for the first time. The shawl begins with a triangle of smocks, moving into gently ruffled flutter lace that echoes the shape of the dress’s butterfly sleeves, ending with an elegant i-cord edge.
